Dr André Taylor

André’s personal mission is to help leaders to fulfill their potential and enable positive change through leadership development, team development and facilitation work.

He is a leadership development specialist, sustainability and water practitioner, educator, coach and facilitator. He has worked in the water and waterway sector for most of his 27 year career. Over this time, he has worked in consultancies, local government, state government and in academia.

Current roles include:

  • Leadership Specialist at the International WaterCentre: André leads the IWC’s leadership-related development programs, short courses, master classes and coaching initiatives.
  • Course Coordinator and Class Facilitator at the University of NSW Business School: André leads the development of the Leadership in a Complex Environment course in the MBAx program in 2012.
  • Class Facilitator, Leading Change for Sustainable Development at Monash University: In 2017 André lead the development of a new sustainability leadership unit within the Masters of Environment and Sustainability.
  • Director, André Taylor Consulting: André directs his own consulting business, which he established in 2006.

Leadership development

  • Keynote speaker on leadership, sustainability leadership and leadership development.
  • Lead author, Course Coordinator and Class Facilitator for the ‘Leadership in a Complex Environment’ course (MBAX and MBT Programs, UNSW Business School).
  • Course developer and Class Facilitator for the ‘Leading Change for Sustainable Development’ Masters course (Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University).
  • Lead course developer for the ‘Leaders in Global Development’ MOOC (University of Queensland Micro-Masters in Leadership in Global Development).
  • PhD: Studied emergent leaders (‘champions’) in the urban water industry.
  • US trained: The ASTD’s Creating Leadership Development Programs Certificate (2008).
  • Lecturer and co-facilitator: UNESCO-IHE Summer Course ‘Becoming a Water Leader’ (2014).
  • Designed and delivered a national series of workshops for the Australian Water Association on ‘change agent leadership’ (2009-11).

Urban water policy, governance and management

  • Former Chair, Research Advisory Subcommittee, CRC for Water Sensitive Cities.
  • Former Chair, Integrated Urban Water Scientific Expert Panel, Healthy Waterways (Qld).
  • Co-author of the Australian Runoff Quality Guidelines.
  • Former expert panel member: ‘River Health Expert Input Panel’ (Melbourne Water).
