US Students visit for WASH in the Pacific

Categories

Nineteen students from the University of California are currently visiting the Solomon Islands as part of a study abroad program with the University of Queensland and Solomon Islands National University. After spending six weeks in Brisbane, Australia the group has now been living and studying in the Solomon Islands for five weeks to learn about environmental and community health in the Pacific.

The IWC is teaching into the 11-week program, with Partnerships and Research Director Dr Regina Souter delivering lectures, workshops and field trips on environmental health, community health and water, sanitation and hygiene. Regina joined the group in the Solomon Islands earlier this month for the First week of the program to teach WASH and Community Health methods, and is with the students in the Western Province to support the Community Health research projects.
