North Queensland field trip

Students from Indonesia and the Philippines visited North Queensland to look at water quality improvement programs and water and wastewater treatment plants in the area.

Students visited farms and natural resource management (NRM) organisations including Landcare and community-based and regional NRM bodies. They looked at land management and water quality improvement programs for protecting the Great Barrier Reef from water flowing from agricultural and pastural areas of North Queensland.

At Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef students looked at the advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities attached to the island's eco-resort.

Because of its situation on the reef the resort can afford virtually no waste emmissions into the ocean.
