Water Leadership for River Basin Organisations in Asia
International WaterCentre hosted ten fellows from Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Laos, Indonesia (5) and Philippines for two weeks.
Project Category: Education & Training
Key Areas of Work: Integrated Water Resource Management
Project Date: Feb 15, 2014
This program provided fellows with the leadership skills required to influence, drive change and advance river basin management.
It provided fellows with an opportunity to learn from Australian practice and reflect on the applicability of these practices in their home context.
Fellows took part on the 2014 Water Leadership program during their first week in Australia, where they built their capacity to continually develop as leaders over their careers, through a balance between academic and real-world approaches.
During the second week of their visit, they participated in diverse lectures, workshops and field trips where they learnt about topics such as the importance of partnerships and community groups in the water sector, the Australian water reform, the Murray Darling Basin case study, water management in the face of climate variability, and the latest practices for the development of water sensitive cities.
