Nigerian civil engineer works for water reform and empowerment of women

After completing the IWC Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia through an AusAID scholarship, Abdulhamid Gwaram now manages the Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation program in Nigeria, a program that improves the water supply coverage of small towns in Nigeria in a sustainable manner.

"Nigeria is currently undergoing reform in its water management as a result of a paradigm shift to modern strategies," Adbulhamid said. "With the knowledge I obtained from the IWC Master of Integrated Water Management through the AusAID scholarship, I am able to contribute significantly to a viable and sustainable water resources management system for my country.

"I am also passionately involved in the Presidential Initiative for Women Empowerment, a special project targeted at economic empowerment and poverty alleviation for local and hard-to-access women."
