Mark Pascoe, CEO of the International WaterCentre, has been awarded the 2008 Medal for Management Innovation by the Australian Institute of Management. The Medal was awarded at the Management Excellence Awards on 7 November 2008 in Brisbane, Australia.

“I am honoured and humbled to be joining such an elite group of managers!” said Mark.

“I can not legitimately claim all the credit here though – I work with a fantastic team of dedicated professionals and have the benefit of great leadership on my Board.”

The annual Management Excellence Awards recognise managers who lead and inspire Australian business and turn belief and passion into viable, sustainable businesses.
The Management Innovation Medal highlights the business and human significance of innovation to the ongoing prosperity of Queensland and Australia.

In the 30 years that Mark has dedicated to the water industry, he has worked in management roles at the Brisbane City Council, Woodward-Clyde Pty Ltd, International Water Association in London and is now leading the International WaterCentre in Brisbane.

The International WaterCentre undertakes education, training, research and consulting activities to promote whole-of-water cycle approaches to water management. The company is a joint venture of four leading Australian universities: The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Monash University and The University of Western Australia.

Mark has been leading the company with a clear vision of striving towards water sensitive futures and poverty reduction through better management of water and the environment.

“We want to lead in developing multi-disciplinary approaches to water management and in thinking and planning pro-actively in a whole-of-water cycle context,” said Mark.

Past recipients of the Medal include Dr Maha Sinnathamby,
Chair and Founder of Springfield Land Corporation, Deborah Fleming,
Creator and Producer of the ABC’s Australian Story, Graeme Wood, of wotif.com and others.
