The key role of the International WaterForum is as a catalyst to improve the business of water and river management. This is achieved through facilitating opportunities that provide professional development, knowledge sharing, networking and recognition of excellence that supports a ‘community of practice’ within water and river management.
The International WaterCentre is the Managing Agent for the International WaterForum, providing logistical and legal support through their Brisbane office.
Flagship event of the International WaterForum
The 13th International Riversymposium, 11-14 October 2010, is a significant world event for water and river management. In 2010, Riversymposium will for the first time be held outside Brisbane, with the host city being Perth, Western Australia. The venue for this year will be Burswood Entertainment Complex. This change of location opens up new opportunities to network with an ever increasing group of industry specialists who share concerns about the future management of rivers and waterways globally.
Managing our waterways has revolved around altering the movement of water – obviously through dams, extraction for irrigation, mining, water supplies, industry and water transfers, and more cryptically when we consider groundwater use, virtual water, water sensitive urban design, water recycling and adjustments to environmental flows. An integrated approach is critical to achieve successful outcomes.
Abstract submissions for the 13th International Riversymposium are now open. Visit our website – www.riversymposium.com – for a full list of topics and themes for this year as well as further information on how to submit an abstract. Submissions close Friday 19 February 2010.
