Dow Live Earth Run for Water

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water is a series of 6km run/walks (the average distance women and children in the developing world can walk everyday to secure water), taking place in hundreds of countries around the world, over the course of 24 hours. In Australia, the event will take place in Melbourne on 18 April, 2010.

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water ( is aimed at helping solve local and global water issues and will feature a participation run or walk, followed by a concert and water education activities, igniting a massive global movement.

The Melbourne based Run for Water event will encourage people to START solving the problem today, addressing the water crisis in AUSTRLIA, GIVE money to support water projects, and learn how to SAVE water in homes and communities.

All donations raised by the Dow Live Earth Run for Water events will fund sustainable water programmes and support a global network of NGO partners. The International Riverfoundation is a leading advocate for the protection and restoration of the world’s rivers and has been selected as the NGO in Australia.

International Riverfoundation ( works in partnerships around the world to inspire, encourage and facilitate sustainable river management, and to reward those who demonstrate world’s best practice in restoring and managing their rivers for improved ecological, economic and social outcomes.

Live earth runDonations received will be used to support Riverfoundation’s Twinning projects, which are dedicated to enabling sustainable river management by providing access to the technical knowledge, and transferring skills and practical expertise to improve the health of rivers and the communities that depend on them from the ground up.
