World Toilet Day - Breaking the toilet taboo to improve global sanitation

People walking around Sydney's Circular Quay on 19th November (World Toilet Day) were confronted with a most unusual sight; more than 25 elaborately decorated toilets - including one that periodically spouted water at surprised passers-by, said Anna Vidot of ABC PM.

But the brightly coloured art installation had a serious purpose - an attempt to break down taboos, and get people talking about sanitation and the huge number of people around the world who don't have it.

Anna speaks to IWC Researcher Dr Dani Barrington about why it's not as simple as "just giving people a toilet".
