Australian water expertise showcased in Peru
IWC CEO Mark Pascoe was among the Australian water experts invited by Austrade Lima to speak at the conference, with Dr Sue Vink from the Sustainable Minerals Institute, UQ and Professor Lin Crase from the Centre for Water Policy and Management at La Trobe University.
The speakers presented on topics ranging from water and food security, water management and regulation, and optimisation of public water services, providing the audience with a strong understanding of the expertise and capability of the Australian water industry.
In its first year, WATEC 2014 is currently the only trade exhibition for water technologies in Peru. The event was also supported by ANA, Peru’s National Water Authority.
Austrade in Chile, Peru and Mexico is further developing activities that raise the profile of Australian water capability and expertise in the region, particularly in management, treatment and infrastructure.
IWC recently hosted 16 Fellows from ANA for a month-long training program under the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowship, and worked with The University of Queensland on protection of rivers and environmental flows in Peru, in the Ocoña pilot river basin.
