20 Indonesian water professionals arrive in Australia for ALA Fellowships.

Professionals from BAPPENAS, Indonesia's national planning agency, and other organisations are participating in a four-week AusAID Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships program with IWC.

BAPPENAS is the National Development Planning Agency in Indonesia; a central government institution responsible for formulating national development planning and improving water and sanitation management and governance in Indonesia, and with the responsibility of coordinating foreign development cooperation.

The BAPPENAS Fellows come from a range of academic and professional backgrounds: engineers, economists, accountants, regional and urban planners, and managers. This diversity extends to their current responsibilities, from planning in the Directorate of Water Resources and Irrigation, to in slum alleviation, food and agribusiness, wastewater management, and wetland, marine and ecosystem conservation.
