Programs and courses
The IWC Water Leadership Program helps emerging leaders to develop the abilities they need to exert influence, drive change and advance challenging integrated water management projects — abilities associated with the most effective integrated water management leaders.
Designed for emerging water leaders at the project to middle management level, this program is customised for the water sector through sound research and collaboration with experienced industry practitioners.
The program focuses on helping leaders to build the leadership abilities (e.g. skills, knowledge and networks), to manage complex challenges, as well as collaborate and exert influence across organisational boundaries.
IWC, UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and Nyenrode Business Universiteit, Netherlands have joined forces to create the International Water Leadership Program, based on the success of IWC's own Domestic Water Leadership Program.
Participants progress through a year of intensive work and learning involving four face-to-face sessions in the Netherlands and Australia, a challenging on-the-job assignment for leadership development, mentoring, coaching and leadership development plans for the workplace.
The program targets emerging water leaders in governments, business and civil society organisations, with 10 years of relevant work experience.
IWC also offers water practitioners access to experienced and qualified leadership coaches who work in, and understand, the water sector. Coaching services are available on demand, on a user-pays basis.
Online Water leadership courses (depending on interest):
International WaterCentre (IWC) is developing a series of online training courses to provide opportunities to those unable to join short courses or education programs with IWC.
The courses address key sectoral issues and provide participants with the knowledge and skills they need to drive positive change in the complex world of integrated water management (IWM).
