Healthy river basin training projects
IWC hosted 16 Fellows from ANA, the National Water Authority of Peru, for a month-long training program under the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships.
International WaterCentre hosted ten fellows from Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Laos, Indonesia (5) and Philippines for two weeks.
The project developed integrated frameworks that support enhanced understanding, evaluation and management of the water resources of Peru.
Monitoring and Assessing for Health of Estuary and Coastal Waters - Australian Leadership Award Fellowship 2012
In 2012 IWC hosted 15 professionals from the Pearl River Water Resources Commission (PRWRC) during a professional development program with the intent to gain new insights and knowledge into monitoring and assessing health of estuary and coastal waters in the context of integrated water management.
River Health Management in the Pearl and Yellow River, China - Australian Leadership Award Fellowship 2011
In 2011 IWC hosted 21 professionals from the Yellow Rivers Conservancy Commission, China, during a four week professional development program to explore the river health management in the Pearl and Yellow Rivers, China in an integrated water management context.
In 2011 IWC hosted 10 professionals from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Studies (CRAES), where during a three week professional development program they carried out river health assessment for Chinese rivers in an integrated water management framework.
The AUD $3.9 million River Health and Environmental Flow in China Project was managed by the IWC from August 2009 to March 2012 under the Australia-China Environment Development Partnership (ACEDP). The project aimed to improve China’s national approaches to water resource management in the areas of river health and environmental flow assessment and implementation.
In 2009 the IWC hosted 17 professionals from the Ministry of Water Resources in China during a professional development program to broaden knowledge on Integrated River Basin Management.
In 2008 the International WaterCentre hosted ten water professionals from China’s Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) in a seven-month long professional development program.
The International WaterCentre was commissioned by the Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) to deliver a training workshop based on the Vu Gia -Thu Bon river basin in Viet Nam during February 2009.
