Who we are

KnowledgeHubs is the Asia-Pacific Water Forum’s network of regional water knowledge hubs. Each hub is a centre of excellence committed to improving water security in the Asia-Pacific region by promoting knowledge sharing and championing feasible solutions for its priority water topic. Together the hubs form an important network of international institutions recognised for their commitment to water management and willingness to work collaboratively for better management of water resources.

As of 2009, the Knowledge Hub for Healthy Rivers and Aquatic Ecosystems (Healthy Rivers Knowledge Hub) is one of 17 Knowledge Hubs dedicated to generating water knowledge and capacity in the Asia-Pacific Region. “Healthy rivers and aquatic ecosystems are at the very heart of sustainability of our societies and economies. Food, health, livelihoods, tourism etc all depend on sustainable access to clean water”, said Wouter Lincklaen Arriens, Lead Water Resources Specialist for the Asian Development Bank at the launch of the Healthy Rivers Hub

The IWC, along with its 15 Knowledge Hub knowledge partners, will continue to work to disseminate Australia’s best practice and expertise on the management and protection of healthy rivers and the aquatic ecosystems that depend on them, while also learning from the great body of knowledge and expertise already existing in the Asia-Pacific region.

The IWC will achieve this through collaboration with its member universities - The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Monash University and The University of Western Australia - along with its founding partners the International RiverFoundation and the South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Partnership.
