Master of Integrated Water Management (part-time/distance)

Graduated in 2015

Why did you choose this program?

I was originally looking at a Master of Environment and fortunately came across the IWC website. I was working on the Mekong River at the time and thought that the MIWM would be ideal for me.

What were the best parts of the program and why?

The structure of the course was very good for part-time students, having the intensives [week-long face-to-face sessions at the beginning of each semester] made the online material more interactive and interesting. Learning from such a diverse group of students was also one of the highlights of the course as it really complemented the course material.

How do you plan to use what you’ve learned in either your current job or future career?

To think a little bit more outside the square and the importance of good consolation processes to solve complex issues in water resources management. I also intend to use the Alumni for future networking and learning more about the water sector.

Rory's final project:

How can the rapid basin-wide assessment tool (RSAT) play a role in bringing together polarised groups to improve multi-stakeholder dialogue between government and civil society?
